We've been here in the new world for a couple of months now and I've had a chance to explore a bit. The trails are rockier, the mosquitoes bitier, the sandwiches gianter. All in all, not a bad place to be. Over the past 2 weeks, I've ridden at least four different trail systems that have hurt me in different ways. Rayburn broke two spokes; Vietnam laughed at me; Sutton made me dizzy; and Mt. Pisgah rattled a couple of teeth loose.
But there's also road riding. The Professa and I have settled into a routine of a short morning loop before (her) work a couple of times a week. It takes us through town, up past a beautiful reservoir and then back down into town. In an hour, the terrain goes from urban to woodsy, to suburban, then through some fancy industrial revolution rich guy mansions, then back to WPI's campus. Today I left the car on campus and rode home - a nice route that passes through the center of the city, then the rail yard/old factories and up the ridge to Plantation street, before plunging my back down Belmont to home. Not a bad way to get the day started.
